Frequently Asked Questions
Thinking about SakuraCPD for your school?
The questions school leaders ask us most often...
Is SakuraCPD designed for primary schools?
The programme can be used to support whole-school priorities, groups of staff or individual professional development, giving all staff flexibility in how they use and access it across their school.
How
does SakuraCPD fit around a busy school week?
SakuraCPD is available online and on demand, so professional
learning does not have to take place at one fixed time. Staff can access their
CPD when it works best for them, allowing them to choose a time when they are
more focused, receptive and ready to engage with their learning.
It also gives schools greater flexibility when planning CPD across the term or academic year.
How
are the CPD modules delivered?
SakuraCPD is delivered through a flexible online platform, allowing staff to access professional development at a time and place that suits them, using a computer, tablet or phone and headphones.
This is particularly valuable for part-time and
flexible-working staff, or teachers who may have arrangements in place to leave
promptly for childcare or other commitments. Rather than missing a staff CPD
session, having to catch up separately or being excluded from the learning
altogether, everyone can access the same high-quality professional development
at a time that works for them.
Each module combines online instruction videos, evidence-based research and reading, practical example videos and opportunities for reflection. The reflection logs act as a working document throughout
their learning - recording ideas, considering their own practice and creating a
useful resource they can return to or use to support professional conversations
with leaders.
Modules also include exit tasks, allowing schools to take
learning beyond the online session and into practice. These can be used between
sessions to encourage staff to try ideas, reflect on what happened and bring their
experiences back to subsequent discussions.
The result is professional development that doesn't depend
on everyone being in the same room at the same time - while still giving the
whole team the opportunity to participate, reflect and contribute.
Can we use SakuraCPD for whole-school and individual CPD?
Yes. Schools can use SakuraCPD to support a shared professional
development priority across a team while also providing learning appropriate to
the needs and roles of individual staff.
This means your CPD programme does not have to be one-size-fits-all. It can reflect both the direction of the school and the development needs of the people within it.
What
reporting and analysis is available to school leaders?
School leaders are given access to reporting tools within SakuraCPD, allowing them to track staff participation and course completion across the school.
SakuraCPD can also provide analysis reports, giving leaders a clearer picture of the professional development taking place and how staff are engaging with it. These reports can be used to support SLT and governor discussions, review CPD priorities and inform wider school development planning. They also help leaders demonstrate how their CPD provision and budget are being used.
Rather than professional development happening in isolation,
leaders have information they can use as part of their wider leadership and
development conversations.
Is
SakuraCPD accredited?
Does
SakuraCPD align with DfE standards and guidance?
Yes. SakuraCPD is rooted in the Teachers’ Standards, helping schools connect professional development with the expectations that underpin effective teaching practice.
Modules are designed to support teachers in developing and
reflecting on their practice, while giving school leaders a clear connection
between professional learning, professional expectations and wider school development
priorities.
This means CPD is not delivered in isolation — it can form part of a school’s wider approach to professional development, reflection and improving classroom practice.
How can we tell whether the CPD is making a difference?
Completing a module is only one part of effective professional development.
Staff receive evidence of completed professional development, providing them with a record of their learning and helping schools maintain a clearer picture of CPD undertaken across the team.
SakuraCPD can provide leaders with information about
participation and completion, while the school can use professional
conversations, reflection, observation and follow-up to explore how learning is
being understood and applied in practice.
SakuraCPD provides and supports the professional learning;
school leaders determine how that learning connects with their wider
improvement work.
What support do we receive if we need help?
With SakuraCPD, you're not simply given access to an online
platform and left to manage it alone.
Schools have access to UK-based support from people who
understand the realities of primary school leadership. Our team includes former
senior leaders from primary schools, so the support you receive is informed by
practical experience of the challenges, pressures and priorities school leaders
face.
We provide onboarding support to help you get started,
technical assistance when you need it and ongoing account support throughout
your time with SakuraCPD.
Whether you need help getting your school set up, supporting staff to access the platform or managing your account, there's a real team behind SakuraCPD ready to help.
Can I see SakuraCPD before deciding?
Absolutely. We want school leaders to understand exactly what they are investing in.
You can arrange a short demonstration of SakuraCPD to see
the platform, explore the professional development available and discuss how it
could fit with your school's priorities.
No lengthy presentation - see SakuraCPD in action, ask your questions and decide whether it’s right for your school. Trial options are also available, giving you the opportunity to experience SakuraCPD before committing.
