Each half term targets a key Ofsted theme and is broken into weekly, focused CPD modules, all mapped directly to Teachers’ Standards. The format supports sustained professional growth, reflective discussion in PPA, as well as direct links to monitoring cycles and school improvement planning.

Autumn 1
Behaviour and Attitudes:
Building Positive Relationships

Establishing clear behaviour expectations from the start fosters positive relationships and effective classroom management. Through developing consistent routines, and core expectations, pupils feel valued, safe, and able to learn. Securing positive attitudes impacts on pupils approach to long term learning and whole school culture.

Autumn 2
Behaviour and Attitudes:
Understanding Every Learner (SEND)

Embedding a values-led culture nurtures intrinsic motivation, guides behaviour, and removes learning barriers for all pupils. Through adaptive strategies and consistent expectations; SEND/SEMH pupils will develop the learning strategies needed for self-regulation, resilience, and independence.

Quality of Education:
Quality First Teaching

Quality First Teaching ensures inclusive, high-impact instruction for all pupils, including those with identified additional needs. Using modelling, clear explanations, understanding metacognition, and purposeful questioning, it supports deep understanding, boosts engagement, and meets diverse learning needs.

Impact on Learners

Quality First Teaching combines strong content planning, meaningful practice, and collaborative learning. Through effective use of resources, support staff, and ongoing assessment for learning, it ensures all pupils make progress through well-targeted, inclusive teaching and learning.

Coherence and progression

A strong curriculum ensures coherence and progression across all subjects. From early reading to foundation subjects, effective planning and assessment supports deep learning, with a clear focus on core knowledge, skills, and sustained pupil progress.

The teacher’s wider role extends beyond the classroom—balancing professionalism, reflection, and efficient planning. Through focused vocabulary teaching, cross-curricular reading, and high conduct, teachers drive improvement and plan purposefully for future success.
